Electric Vehicle Division News ELECTRIC FUEL TO PRESENT ZINC-AIR BUS TO TRANSIT OPERATORS AT APTA EXPO 2002 IN LAS VEGAS, NV
September 17, 2002 Electric Fuel Corporation (NasdaqNM: EFCX), the world's leading zinc-air fuel cell company, announced today that it will present its Zinc Air Fuel Cell Bus to transit operators at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Expo 2002 in Las Vegas September 23-25, 2002. Every three years, the transportation industry convenes at APTA's International Public Transportation Expo. More than 15,000 industry leaders from around the globe are expected to attend and meet suppliers of the latest public transportation products, services and technologies. Electric Fuel will use this occasion to present its zero emission full size transit bus to American transit operators, especially ones operating a large number of buses in areas with air quality issues. The Electric Fuel All Electric Transit Bus is designed to operate as a full-size, zero emission 40-foot bus having a 20-ton gross vehicle weight (including passengers) and operating all standard bus features, including air conditioning. The Electric Fuel zero-emissions electric bus recently demonstrated a record 127-mile range under rigorous urban conditions. In a test drive, the bus traveled under typical city bus driving conditions including stop and go, acceleration and constant speed. The Company believes that these test results clearly indicate that all-electric buses utilizing Electric Fuel's Zinc-Air technology have sufficient range to offer a practical solution for helping to eliminate bus pollution in central cities.Electric Fuel President and Chief Executive Officer Yehuda Harats said, "Our system is now in a position to compete with hybrid diesel and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. This show is part of our increased effort to commercialize the system and make our cities a better place to live in."
