| WHO: |
Arotech Corporation will introduce its eco-friendly transit bus
which runs on zinc air fuels that produce zero emissions. The goal
is for the zinc-air buses to ultimately replace the current public
buses, which run on diesel fuel, a source of heavy carbon monoxide
pollution in cities across the country. |
| WHAT: |
The Electric Fuel bus, with Israeli engineered Zinc-air batteries,
is a full-size, zero-emission, 40-foot-long bus, that weighs 20
tons and operates with all standard bus features. In tests, the
eco-friendly bus has traveled 145 miles in conditions that mimic
a typical day of city bus stop-and-go traffic. An average New York
City bus drives less than 90 miles a day. |
| WHERE: |
The zinc air fuel cell technology that powers the bus is designed
with sustainable development in mind. Yoel Gilon, vice president
of Electric Fuel, says he believes that the all-electric bus offers
a great alternative to diesel-powered buses. "An urban transit
fleet will both dramatically improve the quality of the air and
help national security by reducing U.S. dependence on imported fuel."
